If you watched the Super Bowl you may have noticed GM’s commercial about their new upcoming electric vehicles in 2021. This seems to confirm that 2021 is truly the year of the Electric Vehicle. It’s safe to say Tesla is currently the leader in the EV space. I’ve owned a Tesla Model 3 for almost 3 years and it’s been one of the best purchases of my life. But even though Teslas are superior in many ways they aren’t the only option when it comes to choosing a good electric vehicle. And the more electric cars that come out, the more competition there is, the better it is for us, the consumers. This list is sorted by price, from the most affordable to the most expensive.

0:00 Intro
0:47 Chevy Bolt & Bolt EUV
2:34 Nissan Ariya
4:12 VW ID4
5:57 Ford Mustang Mach-E
7:32 Hyundai Ioniq 5
8:55 Curology (Sponsor)
10:07 Kia CV/EV5
11:46 Tesla Cybertruck
13:18 Rivian R1T & R1S
14:51 Tesla Model S Plaid+
16:29 Lucid Air

I was never a big fan of the looks & performance of the Bolt, but the new Bolt has been redesigned and also comes in a new variant called the Bolt EUV which stands for electric utility vehicle and is considered to be a crossover SUV and has more space than the regular Bolt as well as a slightly different exterior style.

VW says the ID4 will be able to travel up to 250 miles on a full charge and comes in a few different options: the Pro, 1st Edition, and Pro S. At first, all ID4 models will offer only rear-wheel drive but the all-wheel drive models will join the lineup later this year as well as a less-expensive base model coming in 2022.

It comes in two battery sizes and either rear or all-wheel drive, and can provide anywhere from 211 miles up to 305 miles of range on a full charge depending on the configuration which in my opinion is way too many to choose from.

The Tesla Cybertruck starts around $40,000 for the single motor RWD variant but that’s not going into production until late 2022 so that’s why it’s here at this spot because the dual motor and tri motor versions will be produced first in late 2021 and starting around $50,000 and $70,000 respectively. It can travel anywhere from 250 miles to over 500 miles on a full charge depending on the configuration, and the performance is insane with a 0-60 speed of less than 3 seconds on the tri motor AWD version.

Rivian was founded in 2009, and since then they’ve gotten a lot of attention for their upcoming pickup truck, the R1T, and their SUV, the R1S. They’re backed by Amazon and Ford, and they have a very specific target audience in mind and pretty spot on branding, with a focus on high-end luxury yet adventurous utility. It promises at least 300 miles of range on the large battery pack and over 400 miles on the max battery pack with crazy performance using a quad motor all wheel drive setup delivering a 0-60 speed of 3 seconds and up to 11,000 pounds of towing capacity. But it also comes in a quad motor setup with the same 0-60 speed of 3 seconds as the R1T. I was lucky enough to see both of these vehicles in person last year at Fully Charged Live North America, and they look just as good in person as they do in photos.

  2. Is all that power these cars produce a problem for exotic car manufacturers? What can they offer for the prices they charge that can compete?

  3. I guess the Polestar technically came out in 2020. Although we just haven’t seen them in any sort of supply, but that’s the one that I’m most excited about next to the Mustang.

  4. When ONE of these manufacturers get the price of a TOP OF THE LINE model down to $25K they will rule. Only other issue with EVs is THE TIME it takes to recharge vs filling up at a gas station. Supercharging an EV to a “Full Tank” in 10 minutes will signal the death of Petro Cars. RIP. Also the two tone paint on the Lucid looks like SHIT! 🙂

  5. Please stop referencing Tesla Model Y/3 advertised “EPA Mileage” as a comparison to these other EV’s. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few months OR you are just a biased Tesla fan, the ranges that Tesla has been advertising are no where near what you will actually get. Alex on Autos (and several other channels) will enlighten you that in fact the Ford Mach E will go further than the Tesla Model Y. I have now watched multiple comparisons of Tesla’s and their stated ranges and how they are severely exaggerated!!!

  6. Report on the BMW i3 please. It’s not a long range vehicle but with the Range extender I got about 230 miles. Wonderful city car and drives like a BMW.

  7. Thanks for creating this video, but in all honesty Curology is a terrible product. I bought it and it absolutely ruined my face, several people have stated the same. It’s not tailored to your skin, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you want to spend months trying to undo the damage their product has done. That being said thanks for creating this video, I’m in the market for an EV and found it very helpful.

  8. Best electrical car solution is the TOYOTA HYBRID does not need a charge ….what will you do when no electricity is available

  9. The plain banjo unquestionably plant because eye surely pour among a envious newsstand. awful, stupendous sentence

  10. Unfortunately most working class folk won’t be able to afford them they’re way too expensive come on most working class folk struggle to buy a car at 5k looks like working class will be back where they were decades ago horse n cart or odd trip on coach to coast, ev’s are way way too expensive
