Explore the biological and psychological factors that influence how we experience pain and how our nervous system reactions to harmful stimuli.

In 1995, the British Medical Journal published a report about a builder who accidentally jumped onto a nail, which pierced straight through his steel-toed boot. He was in such agonizing pain that any movement was unbearable. But when the doctors took off his boot, they discovered that the nail had never touched his foot at all. What’s going on? Joshua W. 1. I wonder if there is a limit to how much pain a person can feel and if too much pain sends a person into shock.
One of my best friends was hurt in a motorcycle accident that broke his femor with a compound fracture. when the paramedics arrived they had me hold his head up and although jim was in horrific pain he was able to talk. when I started to give answers to the medics questions the medic told me not to talk but he wanted jim to answer. the medic told me that would help jim “not go into shock”.
The accident was followed by months of intense pain including addiction and treatment for addiction.
The ordeal seemed to make Jim more serious about life. He went on to colledge and taught High School and later on became a Principal.
