Heat waves kill more people than any other extreme weather event: more than tornados, hurricanes, and even floods. That’s why scientists are coming up with novel, new designs to help keep temperatures down in Singapore.

  4. Singapore baffles me. It is very sad that such a highly educated and science oriented country chooses to ignore science and continues to criminalize, and sometimes imprison, LGBTQ people. Even their Harvard-educated mathematician PM sides with folk believes and superstition over science by talking about “conservative values” to dismiss and vilify an evolutionary trait that makes some people love differently than he does. Such a weird country.

  5. People in 2010: air condition is just a need! use fans instead.

People in 2030: *well its a must now.*

  6. Wait! Isn’t the Gov. supposed to be the root of all evil? ..that destroys everything with its horrible CENTRAL PLANNING?
    I guess not..

  7. What’s being ignored is how much heat /energy is used to pump/create the cooling effect to those few buildings.

  8. So cool! No pun intented, Singapore is years ahead of other global cities. I remember breathing the future when I was there 8 years ago. Even in Europe, most capitals and alpha cities aren’t quite as advanced.
